Malawi Daily Mail and Breaking News. ACB ZERO IN ON CHAKWERA, HE BENEFITTED FROM MIKE MSUNGAMA’S STOLEN MONEY The country’s graft-busting body, Anti Corruption Bureau (ACB) AND Malawi Police have revealed that they will any day arrest Malawi Congress Party (MCP) President, Lazarus Chakwera, after evidence indicates that he benefitted from shady dealings of convict Mike Msungama. Msungama was convicted and sentenced to 18 months IHL by Lilongwe Magistrate Court in relation to possession of a stolen vehicle which was used by one , Mr. Sithole, who was found with a stolen K120 million in the same car. All along the case, which was being handled by Malawi Police prosecutors, ACB was making its own leads to link Msungama’s issue to corrupt practices that involved swindling of government money. Msungama is also facing another case in which he is accused of working with Sithole and Pika Manondo to swindle government money at Capital Hill. According to inside sources, Msungama has been helping Chakwera with money to the tune of K46 million to date. Months ago, he also donated a Hummer type of vehicle to Chakwera which is also being investigated by Police who say it was reported missing in Mombasa. “We now have a case to which Chakwera must prove his innocence. He has benefited from corrupt money. The money belongs to the public and they need to know why he has been campaigning using their money,” said the source. Police also say they will be working with International Police (INTERPOL) to make trace of the stolen Hummer which Chakwera is using. MCP Spokesperson, Jessie Kabwila, denied knowing anything on the issue and pleaded with Malawi Daily Mail not to publish the story for fear of distracting their candidate.
