Malawi will commemorate International Day of Peace on 21September, 2013. This year, the youth in Malawi will join the rest of the world in campaigning for peace focusing on the forth coming 2014 tripartite elections. National Coordinator of Youth Consultative Forum (YCF) Edward Chileka Banda says the youth will on this important day march and hold a rally at Blantyre Youth Centre from 9:00am. Mr. Chileka Banda also explains that the youth will observe the peace day by promoting peace in Families, Communities Institutions and Meetings. He says that the Youth can play an active role in peace building and prevention of conflicts at all levels of the society, hence the need to involve them. The event has been organised by a National taskforce comprising Youth Consultative Forum (YCF), Young Politician Union (YPU), National Youth Council of Malawi, Ministry of Youth and Sports, United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the Office of President and Cabinet (OPC).
