Mallory had a follow up with the Step Clinic today. It was hard. Four months ago we were there hearing the horrible diagnosis. Yet as I heard this news, Mallory crawled around at my feet. Today, she only sat in my lap and her chair. As someone else said, I try not to be an angry person, but I hate this disease. I agree. Four months ago, she crawled. Today, she struggles to even sit by herself. She is no longer mobile in any form. She can roll but that requires a large amount of effort. She has lost almost 3 pounds in the last four months. But she still smiles and kisses the things and people that she loves. If she can endure all of this and still be happy, so can I. In the end, that sweet smile reminds me that we are blessed. Blessed to know a love like no other.
