Mama Question- I have a question about baby Led Weaning & what age - TopicsExpress

Mama Question- I have a question about baby Led Weaning & what age to start. If you could post so I get a variety of opinions, Id appreciate it! My baby boy is 8 months old. At the beginning I let my husbands fear of someone seeing my boobs control how I fed baby. I would nurse at home and pump to feed bottles while out and about. I also let the Dr scare me into believing I was not producing enough to nourish him. He suggested many times I follow up nursing with formula. I refused for quite sometime, until even his regular pediatrician told me she felt the same way. That I should at least sub one feeding with formula so as to add more calories. So I started giving him a bedtime bottle of breast milk with formula and rice cereal. I did that for about a month, while also getting up to pump and keep my production up. I finally just decided I was going to nurse, be it in public, home or bed time! We have been ebf for I would say 3-4 months. He started to grab food off my plate and show an interest in eating a few months ago. I have heard that once they do that they are ready for solids. Ive also heard food the first year is unnecessary and just for fun. I have no interest in bottled food or feeding him mush. I looked up blw and have given him a few things here and there of what Im eating. I dont do it often because Im a bit afraid if I do he will eat food when he should b nursing. I try to nurse first then give him the food but that doesnt always work because if he sees the food he has no interest in the boob lol I also have family members who whine about how I should b feeding him because, clearly he is ready & hungry . So I need to know, should I keep giving him some here n there just for fun? Start feeding him food at reg meal times and nurse just whenever? Or just nurse with no food? Has giving him snacks caused his strong desire to have the food or is that just a normal thing at a certain age? Thanks so much for Ur help!
