Mamba Armed Response Officers all attend physical fitness training. They run a gruelling 2.4km sprint and go through a demanding obstacle course to ensure that when suspects attempt to flee, Mamba is always right on their heels. It’s no wonder Mamba has an average of one arrest every second day! On Friday 31 May 2013, Mamba’s Control Centre received a panic signal from a client in Prevett Street, Spartan. Controller Frans Strydom dispatched Armed Response Officer Albert Makofane to the scene. Upon arrival, an employee at the premises identified the suspect who was in the process of removing steel off-cuts from the business. When Albert approached him, the suspect tried to flee the scene. Albert gave chase and arrested the suspect. The suspect was handed over to the SAPS who confirmed that the suspect had an outstanding warrant of arrest.
