Man arrested after leading police on car, foot chase Police have one man in custody after he led them on a car and foot chase early Tuesday morning. Police tried to pull over the man, who was driving a multi-colored Chevrolet pickup truck, for a car check shortly before 10 a.m. near the intersection of East Seventh Street and Cambridge Avenue on the citys northeast side. The man refused to stop for police, so officers began to pursue him. As the man began driving in a southerly direction, he threw out a loaded handgun near the intersection of East 12th Street and Winchester Avenue. Police say the gun discharged, but no one was struck by the bullet. The chase continued until the man jumped out of his vehicle near East 18th Street and Cambridge Avenue. He then ran south into Blue Valley Park. Police set up a perimeter in the northern section of the park. Chopper5 was following the incident when shortly before 10:30 a.m. the man was spotted and then caught by police in a clearing near 23rd Street and Topping Avenue.
