Man charged over pursuit fails to attend court . Police from Richmond Local Area Command have charged a 32 year old man from Casino with running into a police officer and a police pursuit at Casino. Shortly before 2pm on Tuesday 13 August 2013 three police officers were speaking with a member of the public at a home on Bungawalbin Road, Gibberagee (near Whiporie). . Police from the Richmond Local Area Command will allege that as two of the officers spoke with the resident a white Ford Laser approached the officers. . One of the officers signalled to the driver of the Ford to stop but after slowing the vehicle suddenly accelerated striking one officer to the leg and forcing the second to leap out of the way. . Police commenced a pursuit with the Ford along various roads both sealed and unsealed. It was eventually terminated due to safety concerns. . The officers identified the male driver and he was last seen driving through state forest roads near New Italy south of Woodburn. When the man attended Casino Police Station this evening (Friday 16 August 2013) he was arrested. . The 32-year-old local man was charged with use weapon to avoid apprehension, police pursuit not stop (Skye’s Law), drive speed dangerous and other traffic matters He was refused bail by police and appeared at Lismore Bail Court the following day where he was granted bail and released. . He was due to appear at Lismore Local Court today (Monday 19 August) however failed to appear. He is now wanted by police.
