Managing Director Trinity Square Video trinitysquarevideo Trinity Square Video (TSV) is one of the longest running artist-run centers in Canada. Since 1971, TSV has acted as a hub for independent artists, providing various communities with access to video production/post-production services. TSV also provides the arts community with a broad spectrum of services, including: workshops, screenings, gallery exhibitions, artist residencies, festival sponsorship and community partnerships. Trinity Square Video is seeking an energetic leader with strong administrative skills to fill the role of Managing Director. Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Managing Director will successfully lead, develop and manage the organization, oversee finances and operations, and execute the strategic direction set in partnership with the Board. The successful candidate will show passion and creative thinking, have excellent interpersonal skills, and manage a four-person staff, working with community organizations. Key responsibility areas include: Operations & Administration: Lead day-to-day operations, projects and programs ensuring quality of service. Identify opportunities for effective processes and team building across the organization, including staff, Board, members and the community. Support the Co-Chairs of the Board of Directors with materials for Board meetings. Participate in and manage board and volunteer committees, and identify opportunities for community building. Lead, develop and implement sponsorship and fundraising opportunities for revenue generation. Management: Provide leadership to all staff, manage department and personnel issues, including supervising, delegating, hiring, terminating, running staff meetings, training and performance reviews. Manage the operations of the organization including fielding external requests from stakeholders, funders and the public, disseminating information internally and externally, and ensuring commitments are met. Partnerships & Profile: Build relationships with community partners, and work with the assistance of the Board in developing and managing marketing, publicity and outreach initiates. Strategy & Planning: Identify new opportunities for grants to support the organization. Research and develop partnerships. Skills Required: • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a senior management role in media or culture sectors, with vision and a demonstrated ability to engage people in that vision. • Relevant educational and/or experiential/work background. • Successful track record managing grant applications for various levels of government and/or private corporations • Strong financial management skills, particularly in the not for profit sector. • Familiarity/previous experience with working in and with non-profit boards, arts communities, and/or board development initiatives. • Excellent oral and written communication skills. • A strategic thinker who can innovate through analysis and ideation. • Knowledge of contemporary independent audio/video production and post-production equipment. • Knowledge of contemporary media art practices and exhibition. Compensation: Flexible four day/week position, commensurate with experience. Position also has a benefits package, and potential for commission.
