Manchester United are on the brink of signing Spanish wonder kid Thiago Alcantara. Reports coming out of Spain say the player and his father have both decided that staying at Barcelona and trying to oust Xavi, Iniesta or Fabregas from the starting line-up is unappealing. If the stories are true, and Catalan paper El Mundo Deportivo led its front page with a series of splashes this week, then the player will trigger his £15 million buyout clause. The newspaper says that the player and his father Mazinho (a former Brazil international and 1994 World Cup winner) have already held talks with United. Thiago’s friendship with David De Gea is also cited as a reason the Spain Under-21 star is heading to the Premier League champions, indeed De Gea recently tweeted “See you in Manchester.” to him.
