Manchester United have reportedly denied claims Wayne Rooney used controversial doctor Mariana Kovacevic to help him be fit for Wednesdays Champions League showdown with Bayern Munich. Kovacevic is famous for using horse placenta to cure footballers ailments, but the Daily Mails Paul Collins claims United have rubbished reports that Rooney used her services: Mariana Kovacevic previously helped Frank Lampard and Robin van Persie and, according to reports in her native Serbia, the housewife added Rooney to her star-studded list of patients. But United, who take on Bayern for a place in the semi-finals of the Champions League, denied the reports. Kovacevic, who was investigated by Serbian health authorities over her medical qualifications and forced to prove her treatment is not illegal, was reported to have flown to the UK to help England international Rooney. The 42-year-old charges up to £5,000 to strap placenta to players bodies in a bid to speed up recovery from injury.
