Manchester United signs deal with Pepsi By Shelina Begum | 31 Jul 2013 09:01 The multi-year deal covers Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos and Brunei, where Pepsi now has exclusive rights to use Manchester United branding on its products and point of sale materials. The club has more than 38 million fans in the seven countries and hopes the deal will boost the Manchester United and Pepsi brands in the region. Managing director Richard Arnold said: “PepsiCo understands what our fans love and through our partnership will be bringing them exciting promotions and incentives and getting them closer to the Club they support. “PepsiCo is an ideal partner for Manchester United because of its unique understanding of sports and inventive marketing initiatives.” Mustafa Moussa, senior marketing director for PepsiCo Asia-Pacific, said; “Sports represent a huge global platform for PepsiCo, and we’re delighted to be teaming up with Manchester United in Asia Pacific. “The combination of Manchester United’s stature as one of the world’s most iconic sports franchises and PepsiCo’s portfolio of beloved brands will create exciting new opportunities for consumers throughout the region.” PepsiCo is the latest in a raft of sponsors to have been signed up by United, including Russian airline Aeroflot, Thai telecoms firm True Corporation, Mexican banking group INVEX, Vietnamese bank BIDV, British risk management group AON and US car giant General Motors. >AM
