#Mandarmani is a seaside resort village in the state of West Bengal, India, lies in East Midnapore district and at the northern end of the Bay of Bengal. It is one of the large and fast developing seaside resort village of West Bengal. It is almost 180 km from Kolkata Airport on the Kolkata - Digha route. red crabs crawling around the 13 km long beach is a special attraction of Mandarmani. It is argued to be the longest driveable beach in India. Birds: Birds observed in Mandarmani include Pallass and Brown-headed Gulls, Common, White-winged and Little Terns, Greater Sand and Kentish Plovers and a mix of other waders.Birds in the Photo: Little Terns. How to reach: Best reached by road. From Contai drive another 12kms to Chawalkhola. Take a left at Chawalkhola and follow the village road till it ends at Dadanpatrabar (8kms) village. The hotels are a 6km drive along the beach from Dadanpatrabar. Be warned that the approach road from Chawalkhola is unpaved and in terrible condition. Distance from Kolkata is around 166kms and takes 3.5 - 4 hours to complete.
