Mandisa - Overcomer Prayed this morning thanking the Lord. As hard as this year has been, how beautiful it is to hear my dad asking me to call mom on the phone so he can hear her voice, and to see my mom visit my dad frequently despite her weary body, only to nag him once there yet being ever so attentive to his needs. And God giving me the strength to honor them each day... God has been teaching me to trust Him especially for the last two years, opening my eyes to the power of the Gospel and learning to live life by faith (but how painful is each step of the way because of my idolatrous heart). To see the AVID kids fight through devastating obstacles yet blossom, to see the parents show up on a rainy night to know more about how their kids are succeeding, and to be a part of an incredible ministry called LoveLA Sunday after Sunday... How beautiful is this life. Nothing goes as planned but Im marveling at what God is doing right now. Dont want to sound cheesy, but I just felt the Lord tell me this morning, David, see, youre overcoming. Im with you. Its been a long time since I felt a little music to my feet and this song just did the job this morning. Please pray for me as my mom and I celebrate her 70th birthday this Friday evening (its actually the 24th). I wanted to make it huge but mom didnt want it big because of various reasons so itll be the two of us and two family friends at Yamashiros (God willing, her 80th will be big with grandchildren as her heart heals over the next 10 years). Please pray that she will start to heal from her life wounds and feel loved at the dinner. Also please pray for me as Ill be speaking at a retreat this coming Sunday to Tuesday, as well as the following Sunday for a church service, that I will preach His Word with humility, conviction, and His power. If youre feeling down, please, please remember, He is with you, as He is with me. I know its not easy, but patiently remind yourself of His great love for you as you tell yourself, You are God, and I will not be afraid, for You are with me.
