Mandy: Hi, can you post this for me please as i would like some advice? Ive received my ESA letter today after having a medical a few weeks ago. It says i am now entitled to contribution based ESA in the WRAG and the money for this will be topped up so i will get exactly the same money that i receive now (i am on invalidity benefit and have been since about 1993). It says i have to inform the tax credit office as this money will be taxable (i receive child tax credit). Does this mean i will now receive less child tax credit? Will it affect my housing benefit or council tax benefit? At the moment i receive full housing benefit but have to pay a small amount towards my council tax. How often will i have to attend these work focused interviews? i have severe depression and have been on antidepressants for over 20 years and i also suffer with social phobia so going to these interviews will make my depression worse for a few days before, during and after. Should i appeal this decision to get into the support group? Is it worth me going through a lot more stress than i have already been through? Will i have to go to another medical as the letter says i can only receive contribution based ESA for a maximum of 365 days? What happens after the year is up? Final question, would it be worth me applying for DLA? I did receive it over 10 years ago but when i had to claim again letters and forms got conveniently lost by whoever deals with this and it caused me too much stress so i gave up. Any advice gratefully received!!
