Mangoes... yes mango is on my mind. Its that time of the year when mangoes invade India and completely cloud you. All over Mumbai you see yellow and every other fruit just cannot compete for shelf space. The varieties are mind boggling and there is no way you can resist the urge to buy as many as you can.... then come home and eat one.. no, two.. ok one more... why stop! Just finish all, sleep, go out buy some more and put them to cool for the post dinner binge! :) I freak out on mangoes and the wife freaks out on me. Lekin love (aam ka pyaar) ke liye kuch bhi saheyga. I mean who doesnt freak out on the bliss that accompanies the sight of ALL those mangoes with all those names and the aaaahhhhh smell. Alphonso, Dussheri, Safeda, Totapuri... every one has a different personality thats so easy to love unconditionally! And in every region we will find a mango which is the local king! Like in Mumbai we have the Alphonso (taste the mouth waters even when I think about it) but in Delhi or Ranchi or Hyd it is not royalty. A majority would not have tasted it but will swear by other varieties! To each mango lover- his/her own choice. So while the invasion is on- feast yourself. Nowhere in the world will one see this phenomenon and the world where a nation goes mango go go! Besides, the world doesnt realize what they are missing- ice cream with mango, aam ras, kaccha aam, aam panna, and all the variants in addition to the real thing. Eat it as you like it- cut, slice, dice, pulp, shaken, whatever.... or the best is to sucks it :) yes chuso pyaar se.
