Manly P. Hall. Hall was born into healing in 1901, when his Mother, a chiropractor and a Rosicrucian Fellow, and his Father, a dentist whom he would never know, collided. Hall came to Los Angeles 18 years later to live with both his Mother and Grand Mother. The world of the arcane and mystical opened up for him in the land of esoterica, sunshine, beaches, and phrenology too. As it turned out, phrenology would turn out to be the most savage and unhealthy, despite all the banter about mysticism! In fact, how can this parallel be applied to the great western medical and pharmaceutical empire paradigm of today that stands right alongside the various cures to cancer that have been around nearly 100 years (or more!), for example. Is it possible that the surgeon’s knife and the medication addiction of western medicine is actually a torturous and abominable dictatorship …aimed first at the human anatomy but eventually directly at the “Soul.” The theosophical tenets of The Rosicrucians entail an Aquarian Age where esoteric knowledge and Christian mystery abound. A selfless service to humanity is central, and also an inner harmony of heart and mind. An underpinning element of the mission is a scientific method for uniting the “Soul body” that hastesn the second coming of Christ. The teachings include a view that humans are Spirit and have God’s powers but that a series of existences aimed at building character and moral law is yet underway to release that truth. Cause and effect is studied and is a central tool for uncovering a means of overcoming past mistakes and of creating an aperture forward for humans that is escaping its past and is the reaping of these new positive undertakings. The Spirit is said to govern the mind, and the mind to govern the body all of which is called The Soul. Humans transcend themselves when they figure this out, it appears! Here is found a quite different interpretation of the word “ego” as The Rosicrucians consider it to be this threefold self including a threefold Spirit interpretation that offers Divine Spirit, Life spirit, and Human Spirit. The mental body ios then a contrcut vehicle for the Spirit to see itself in outer world terms, to have cause and effect in the material world, and create and sustain activities. The body consists of dense material body, the Vital body which is comprised of Ether and that is constituted by the power of the Sun. The Desire body is the fine emotive experiential body which pervades outward visibly to some beyond the other two bodies. The threefold Soul is compriosed of the Conscious Soul, the Intellectual Soul, and the Emotional Soul, while each is a sort of suspension liquid for the other sequentially. The Cosmic Christ is the outer Christ which teaches humans to find Christ within. This new Soul-Body will allow humans to evolve and to become inhabitants of the “Sixth Epoch” or “New Galilee.” In the new Epoch, humans would enter a collective that would oppose reptilain forces now at work attempting to return humans to an ignorant and subserviant state. The discovery of potentialisations, such as harmonics realizations, are the key to ascension into a blissful state as a locality. Medieval alchemists were early users of the phrase “astral body” which has also been called “The Philosopher’s Stone” or the “Living Stone.” Curiously, the stone appears to be linked with enlightenment, the striving for perfection, and the bliss of Heaven. There are very similar references within Hinduism as Gnosis and Buddhism as Chintamani in which the stone appears as an orb of light or a luminous ball. In the Hindu versions, the stone pervays an ability to turn the human body into a golden and immortal vehicle, and to make available the godly works of Shiva, Shambala, or as with the Theosophists, Sanat Kumara. Christ mentioned the stone in The Gospel of Mathew, Paul mentions the “soul-body” in Corinthinas, and then other ancient records and explanations offer the “Diamond Soul” that will eventually be cultivated by the entire human race. Thus, the stone has been associated with transmutation into immortal gold, both of the human body and soul as well as the precious metal in metaphor and comparative explanation. According to these interpretations, the experiences that Spirit gathers while in the physical body are considered to be lessons, and death itself to be a step outward into a greater community. The process describes a single etheric “seed” atom as containing all of the experiential information of the passing life and which data will be essential to the next life. The vital body’s encoded history is then used by the desire body and examined in a purgatory or “first heaven” experience by the Spirit after three and a half days while it conducts the transfer. While in Los Angeles, Hall would study various mystical depictions, spiritual philosophies, and became an authority on resonant fluctuations of the intellect and the subconscious. Hall wrote various pieces during these years, including The Lost Keys of Freemasonry, An Encyclopedic Outline of Masonic, Hermetic, Qabbalistic and Rosicrucian Symbolical Philosophy: Being an Interpretation of the Secret Teachings concealed within the Rituals, Allegories and Mysteries of all Ages, which is more commonly referred to as The Secret Teachings of All Ages, The Dionysian Artificers (1936), Freemasonry of the Ancient Egyptians (1937), and Masonic Orders of Fraternity (1950).
