Mantra returns on November 30th, 2013 for the 20th anniversary of the highly influential club initially located at Eigen’s Ballroom in Copenhagen. The initiation of Mantra took place on August 28th, 1993 through the now legendary Ultramarine Party located on the sea fortress, Trekroner. Headlined by The Orb, 2000 people gathered for an event, which catapulted the already blooming Danish scene even further. On November 6th, 1993, Mantra opened its doors to a dedicated following of Techno heads, who would soon find a much needed home in the first ever weekly Techno Club in Denmark. Mantra also served as the perfect counterpart to another legendary club that opened the same month, X-Ray, which operated in all things Garage, Vocal House and R’n’B. Both clubs however, did in fact constitute a gravitational axis of high caliber music and introduced the Copenhagen club goers and ravers to new standards of musical experiences. Mantra was the place where the likes of Aphex Twin, Sun Electric, David Holmes, Kenny Larkin and many other international artists would make their debut on Danish soil. After a few stints of doing one-off’s, other projects and of course the notorious “Blue Star Night Club” Wednesday’s, the old Mantra allies would join forces for a new venture at Tivoli Jazzhouse under the name “Mantra 2000”. On these premises, a string of excellent artists such as Claude Young, Mateo & Matos, Bob Sinclar, James Ruskin, Eddie Flashin’ Fowlkes, DJ Deeon and many others, provided another addendum to the Mantra legacy. So here we are, 20 years after a cornerstone of Danish club history was brought to life. We obviously need to mark this special occasion and what better way to do so than putting a broad range of carefully DJ’s on in the Black, Red and White Box of Culture Box. Mantra – We Love You
