Many Christians and “Messianic Jews” frequently use the term - TopicsExpress

Many Christians and “Messianic Jews” frequently use the term we are “under grace, not under the Law!” Many use this term in error because of a complete and utter misunderstanding of what grace is. Grace in the Hebrew is Khen it means to stoop, bend or show kindness to an inferior and move to show kindness by petition The Greek form of Grace is Kharis, which is also the act of showing kindness. An example of Grace today would be n extension of the due date on a bank note when the person owing the money asks for a break. This extension is not written into the contract but is given by the bank as a favor to the person making the petition. NOTE: Grace is not an obligation on the part of the one bestowing it. Grace is a free gift. Peter say’s Ad-nai is the G-d of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Messiah, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. 1 Pet 5:10 We also see in 1 Pet 4:10 Grace comes in different forms: As each one has received a special gift, employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Our access to life eternal is also an act of grace not as a result of perfect Torah keeping Titus 2:11 For the grace of G-d has appeared, bringing salvation to all men, 12 instructing us to deny ungodliness and worldly desires and to live sensibly, righteously and godly in the present age, 13 Looking for the blessed hope and the appearing of the glory of our great G-d and Savior, Messiah Yeshua, 14 who gave Himself for us to redeem us from every LAWLESS DEED i.e. TORAHLESSNESS, and to purify for Himself a people for His own possession, zealous for GOOD DEEDS (Special note to Christians: good deeds are mitzvoth = commandments). Notice this grace is contingent upon us DENYING WICKEDNESS, WORLDLY DESIRES, AND LIVING DISCREETLY, RIGHTEOUSLY AND PIOUSLY IN THIS WORLD!!! Under this method – if we repent, trust obey, etc. – Messiah will forgive us our sins and refrain from judgment. By obedient trust (often called FAITH) in Messiah Yeshua we will receive the eternal inheritance by “grace”.
