Many children with autism find it hard to self-regulate. If your child is like this and you have engaged them in very arousing play, they may find it difficult if the activity comes to a sudden halt. Try to build in a gradual calming down period, with the activities getting increasingly calm, before the finish, e.g. if playing chase and catch, gradually calm by chasing more slowly, and make the “catch” less animated.
