Many have asked me about these public star parties, so here is the official announcement tonight from the OMSI Planetarium Director, Jim Todd, and the Rose City Astronomers club gets excited as the date nears and the weather looks like summer for about 80 degrees forecast for this coming Saturday, with a warm balmy evening on the river and hundreds of interested public showing up as usual. *I should also add that although the planetarium director Jim Todd does not mention it in his announcement, the waning gibbous moon will rise at 2 am after most have left the park, yet on beautiful evening like this one coming up, some of the serious die-hard astronomers will stay with their huge telescopes set up to continue observing all night till sunrise. It is on those late Saturday nights into early Sunday mornings that many become hooked on the cosmos for real for the first time in their lives. Youll see why if you go. > Jim Todd via michaelsnet.us Jun 16 (2 days ago) to rca-forum OMSI Star Party: Summer Solstice Celebration June 21, 2014 Time: Sunset (9:03 pm) Located at: Rooster Rock State Park or L.L.
