Many hours to wait at the airport …GRAND CANYON SUMMARY in point form: CARNAGE moments: Andrew pinned raft day 6, hours to get him off, afternoon/early evening for raft to come off, next day to patch it; 3 rafts floated away from us middle of night when our beach washed away after rainstorm ..found them 5 miles downstream (thankfully); 2 oars lost ..one in Georgie, one when Andrew pinned the raft; two oar blades damaged …one pole dancing with it one in a big hole. RAPIDS: way better than I had expected ..good features ..challenges ..we all did well ..no flips (minus the pin); 3-4 people launched out of different rafts in Georgie; Bedrock gave half our team a bit of a wack …Justin jumped on our raft and saved us at one point in Bedrock which we were grateful for; Crystal and Lava we all did well which was great :) ..Andrew had some challenges in Lava and won :) …huge waves in parts ..Torquoise was way more fun than expected ..as were some others ..Hermit was a blast. AWESOMENESS: color of the water and riding the rock slides on our bums through Havasu; 360 heavenly views at some of our campsites; an all day hike 3000 feet up, across and then down where we saw numerous waterfalls, rock features, slot canyons and unbelievable things hard for words to describe; campfires with friends; vastness, beauty, rapids ..just EVERYTHING MEMORABLE moments: we thought we lost Andrew and Will at Havasu ..Randy and his boat were downstream a bit on the other side of the river and he couldnt get back over as we all looked for them ..we thought we lost them ..we didnt ..happy outcome; the pin; losing the rafts; evolution of great friendships; Melanie shouting Grand CanYON and Justin always trying to make her stop; Andrew popping plastic bags he blew up ..jumped on them on the metal floor of his raft and it echoed all throughout the Canyon; Keith on my porch every morning and night (he shared my sand mat outside my tent); campfires each night; THANKSGIVING was such a fun day and night ..everyone laughing ..the guys got drunk early ..much footage ;) (most wont make beyond my puter) ..a fun nice day; Justin saving the day in Bedrock. SAD moments: Grandma died ..few fights (expected 16 people 21 days!) ..nothing major ..most all awesome moments HAPPY moments: not losing the raft that was pinned, getting our 3 rafts back that had floated away, seeing people so happy, pride of successes (rapids/hikes and other), just being with such an amazing group of people. ….sooooo much more.
