Many may be asking does any of this personal stuff have anything to do with the McDonnells criminal charges and the answers is YES! Here is why. The defense wants the Jury to believe that Mary Shea Sutherland was the one who pushed to have the big Anatabloc launch at the Governors Mansion, not Maureen McDonnell or Bob McDonnell. Mary Shea says she was the main event planner for the event, but she says that was her job. Mary Shea admits she was in talks with Jonnie Williams about a job working for him or making him a client of hers if she went back to her old consulting job. Mary Shea says planning the Mansion Event had nothing to do with potential job offers from Williams. She says she was just doing her job by planning the event, and the usual event planner was on vacation the week of the event. SO why does the jury care if Maureen was a hard person to work for or not? Well, the prosecution wants the jury to believe that Mary Shea left her employment with the First Lady because she was so difficult to work for. The defense wants the jury to think Mary Shea left her job to try and work for Jonnie Williams. In the end Mary Shea never did work for Jonnie, but did she hope to? That is up for the jury to decide.
