Many of Columbus’s top jazz musicians will gather to say goodbye and thank you to Nelson Mandela. They will perform songs from the South African and American experiences in the struggle for freedom and human dignity. Performers will include Roger Hines, Roger Myers, Brett Burleson, Ron Hope, Michael Cox, Debra James Tucker, Eddie Bayard, Michael Vander Does, Ron Holmes, Stan Smith, Mark Lomax III, Brian Olsheski, Vicki Saunders, N Michael Goeke, Keith Newton, Kevin Jones, Tia Harris-Roseboro, Andre Scott, John Popovich, and more. Fo/mo/deep will perform one or two songs as a band, but most of the show will feature various combinations of musicians. There is no cover so all can attend. Donations will be collected for the Nelson Mandela Children’s Fund. This uplifting program is being produced by The Jazz Poetry Ensemble™ and the Kate Schulte Foundation.
