Many of you have heard me speak about my training in martial arts. You have heard me speak allot about my Isshin-Ryu background. I have also spoke about my Shuri-te training and here lately my training in Mushin-Ryu Kobujutsu Kai. The one I have not spoken allot about is my American Karate instructor. Master Stowe a quiet, humble, peaceful and fun loving individual. He and I crossed paths years ago. I was a brown belt in Isshin-Ryu and he opened the doors to me and welcomed me with open arms. Allowing me to keep my rank. As I took up training at his dojo, after a while he promoted me to Sho-Dan (1st black belt). He was very instrumental in keeping me on the path. Showing me allot of the peaceful side of my training. Not holding grudges and focus on the good. He was also the one that encouraged me to jump at the chance of reconciliation with someone. And always reminded me to stay true to my roots in the art. I have not been able to get back to see him as often as I like. Church, family, dojo, life and many other things tend to stop me from being able to stop by. I think of him often. The only pics in my dojo are he and I at my black belt test. Honestly if it was not for him and the support or other instructors like Sensei Knight, Sensei Henderson, Shihan Price, Sensei Paul and a hand full of others I would have walked along time ago. And now I get to add Shihan Rios to the list. All of these men have drawn the best of me out. Each of them investing their time and energy in me. I am grateful to them and say thank you for not giving up on me. Most of all thank you to Master Stowe for inviting me to the dojo years ago. Hope to see you soon.
