Many of you know how strange Pankies’ behavior can be. Since she was 7 ½ weeks old, it was obvious she was not right in the head. She used to bolt and projectile urinate when upset, She hasn’t done that in a while but her behavior remains strange. Several weeks ago, we lost Isabella. She was my first standard Poodle and she had many many health issues. I miss her so much. She was deathly reactive to animal protein of any kind so we have not fed bones, chicken necks, etc for fear she would get some of it. I won’t go into all the details. If you are interested, I wrote a blog about her jility.wordpress/2014/06/28/the-queen-is-dead-long-live-the-queen/ Pankies loved Isabella. She would clean her eyes and lie down next to her and bop her gently with her feet. Isabella loved the interaction (she was 14 years old and not able to get around well). Pankies panicked the first night Isabella was gone. She was up all night, pacing. She would get on the bed and off. She panted and kept running to the door to tell us we forgot Isabella. She had a lot of trouble without her Isabella around. Pankies doesn’t like any of the other dogs, including her own mother. She growls at them and will go after them at times, even her wonderful mom. They all ignore her knowing she is unstable. Even our BC Crush, who is extremely reactive with other dogs, ignores Pankies when she is in a mood. Laurie Turner recently witnessed Pankies in one of her “moods.” She was quite shocked at what she saw. Anyway, I started feeding chicken necks and wings again but Pankies will have nothing to do with them. Not only does she not want them, she is petrified of them! I tried to offer her a chicken wing tonight and she bolted and urinated. The other dogs gobbled them up with joy, including her sister. Pankies continues to amaze me with her absurdly odd behavior. She hid in the bedroom with her ears pinned and her tail between her legs, while the other dogs loved every minute of their dinner. I have never seen a dog like her in my life.
