Many of you know that my father collapsed Monday, and has been in ICU since. We now know that this all started with the flu, and consequent complications due to his respiratory issues. My mother came down with it Wednesday, and is also now in the hospital, although in much better shape than my dad, and she is already showing some signs of improvement after receiving fluids and other medicines. Daddy is showing some signs of response, and they are planning to begin weaning him from life support today, and we are cautiously hopeful. I am now down with the flu as well, having made it home to my own bed last night. My brother got here from England Tuesday, and he has been amazing...and at the moment he is handling things in Goldsboro on his own. I dont usually do this sort of post, but I have had so many calls and messages, and I just cant get back to everyone individually right now. You have no idea how much it means to know that so many people are so concerned, and the love and prayers and thoughts have touched our hearts. Please continue to send good thoughts, prayers, or whatever you believe in. At times like this all of the above are very welcome. Also, please be aware that the flu is rampant here in NC, and that you are NOT protected from this strain by your flu vaccination. You can read more on that subject in the news...my parents were both vaccinated, but the strain mutated. Be careful to wash your hands, avoid as much contact with people as you can, and if you have any symptoms see your doctor immediately for treatment. And speaking of doctors, thank you so much Howard and Sissy Newell for your help...you are lifesavers. I will keep you posted as I am able.
