Many of you may not know this but blues legend, Corky Siegel and his agent/wife Holly Siegel, were vital to getting us to the point where we could pull off an event as fantastic as the one we had last night at the Drake. In fact, it was Corky and Holly who brought Rakhael Ross and Gil Ross into our life. I met Rakhael and Gil at Corkys house when I first started at Common Cause Illinois. Gil was one of the photographers last night (along with our great friend Chuck Osgood whom Corky and Holly connected to us as well). It was Rakhael and her friend Emma Pieper-Jennie van den Boogaard too--who really were the secret sauce behind what we did last night--especially that amazing silent auction. Yes, we staffers did put in overtime--especially Benjamin--but these folks worked nearly full time without compensation, out of the goodness of their hearts and for the Common Cause. They are truly Champions of Democracy! Thank you. Thank you. Thank you! thanks Cork, Holly, Rakhael, Emma, Jennie, and everyone else for everything!
