Many of you remember “Cherry”, a dog that Bailey’s Arms rescued from a backyard breeder in Tipton County a little over a month ago. Prior to her rescue, this dog had known only despair and hunger in her young life. She gave birth to litter after litter of puppies only to have them taken from her while she remained chained in a back yard. She was an emaciated shell of a dog. She was used up and had given up. Her “owner” recognized that her breeding days were done and sold her to Bailey’s Arms Rescue for $25. You all donated to help us with her medical needs and we were able to get her safe. She has been spayed, vaccinated, dewormed and has gained MUCH needed weight in the care of one of our best foster homes. She is loved and thriving. This should be her happy ever after, right? After all this dog has been through, she DESERVES a happy ending!! But Cherry’s trials are not over quite yet. Her foster mother noticed an area near her spay incision that just didn’t look right and took her back to the vet for examination. Cherry was diagnosed with a potentially life-threatening condition that is rarely seen called Transmissible Venereal Tumors. This is one of only 3 known transmissible cancers and is passed from dog to dog through mating or even simple physical contact. That’s the bad news. The good news is that this cancer is very responsive to an easy chemotherapy medication called vincristine. The vast majority of dogs are cured after just 3-4 rounds of this chemotherapy. So here we are, with our hats in our hands once again for Cherry. Cherry is in a fight for her life and she needs an army of supporters backing her up. This dog has been through so much already, but has never given anything back except light and love. The world needs Cherry’s light! Please help us make sure she wins this battle and we just know that her happy ending will finally be a reality!! pledgie/campaigns/22067
