Many people are saying some pretty bad things about this statement, but personally I feel a little bit differently. All she really said is that we should respect people even our enemies and try to empathize as much as possible to understand their point of view. I have been creating educational structures and planning my future with the belief that empathy is the characteristic that will change this world. Whether we like it or not we are all connected! We are all one family. The beautiful souls and the ones who are the embodiment of evil we all have the fundamental parts of us that is essentially same stuff. I truly believe that all of the suffering of this world comes from a place where no empathy exists, a place were the needs of one are seen as more important than another, a place where fear is a motivator that calls people into action and love is cast aside. The issue is that people dont know what empathy is. It doesnt mean laying down, being apathetic to situations and validating the actions of the person who you are empathize get with. Empathy is about taking yourself out of your own perception of things, placing yourself in the shoes of another and feeling the world as they feel.. More importantly feeling the suffering they feel and offering your assistance to elevate this suffering in a way the benefits the whole. Our enemies may not respond to the empathy we attempt to show but that is only because its something that is rarely seen that it creates a state of cognitive dissonance that will place them in a fight or flight mentality. This happens Because the place humanity has been operating from is a low frequency thriving off of fear, and switching to a paradigm where love and understanding is the driving function of our species is a complete reordering of the things we have known. In order for one system to be replaced by a new system, the old one must be destroyed.. This results in a level of chaos that would scare any of us, but this is the ultimate power that we have on this earth... To be creators to evolve and find better more efficient ways of survival, this is the duty and nature for all walks of life. we just have to work together as one planet and put aside our petty differences and see the bigger picture.
