Many people have shared the tragic story of the Copiah county, MS horses with me over the past few days. The photos are extremely graphic and disturbing. The short version of this terrible animal abuse case is this: a couple went out to look at some land for sale in Copiah county that the land owner was leasing to a horse owner who owned over 150 horses. When they walked out onto the land there were dead and dying horses everywhere due to alleged neglect and starvation, the dying too weak to stand. They immediately reported it but there are now reports of evidence being removed, buried and hidden. And sadly, shamefully the horse owner is a repeat offender. We wont show pictures here but this case needs those of us who love animals to get behind it and through legal means make sure these horses did not suffer and die in vain. There are two things I want to make people aware of 1) the FB page Justice For Copiah County Horses and 2) you can contact your MS representatives and law makers to encourage stronger animal cruelty laws and penalties. We really try to keep this FB page uplifting and informative but there are times when we must share to rally all fellow animal lovers to spread the word and unite against injustices so heinous that they must be brought to light.
