Many thanks to Keith and Laura for supporting the session tonight. Well done guys. Tonight was about how to use hills in strength and speed training; both of which will improve your overall running efficiency, but it’s very much a session type you need to carry out on a regular basis by incorporating some quick burst along the flat or up slight inclines. You put in some good efforts in a difficult session. After a mile gentle jog with some surges we made our way back to the hill by including some simple hops and jumps along the roadside curb to improve the stretch in our lower legs (short stretch cycle) Stick with the co-ordination of these hops and jumps guys ; you will improve just be patient with yourselves. Remember, it is the accelerations produced in these sessions which help to recruit more muscle fibres, which in turn will be used on those long gossip (endurance) runs. Next weeks itd back to our aerobic endurance agenda and we will meet at the same place, Stone Business Park, Diamond Way and go for ... a long one -hopefully, non-stop and at gossip pace :-)
