Many thanks to Vicki in ABQ for sharing this incredibly insightful article. My comment to her was, I havent finished the article yet (didnt realize it was that long), but he really seems to have his fingers on the pulse of our industry (and the many others affected as well) and is able to analyze what went wrong. Reading the truth is so refreshing! I mean when he said...“Future” also looks at the way the creative class – especially musicians, journalists and photographers — has borne the brunt of disruptive technology...I went YES! Do you know how many people cannot get that when this thing hit, it hit us in the photography profession with a double-barreled whammy! Its like theyre thinking, How could a 30+ year old photography business fail so quickly? It MUST be that the owner got stupid really fast and just wasnt paying attention. How do you convince them otherwise; how do you convince YOURSELF that youre really not a screw-up when theres nothing left after 32 years in business and 42 years in the industry? How does one climb out from under the specter of failure, and where does one go from here? Maybe hell provide some direction in the last half of the article.
