Many world leaders lead administrations capable of governing through more than one significant crises at a time. Personally, my take is, Harper is hoping to refocus public attention on his act on the world stage. But we know by now Harpers past endeavours resulted in Canadas isolation and exclusion from key world bodies. If he was a leader in Kiev this pronouncement would make sense. In addition, for Canadians, the Fair Elections Act is an immediately larger threat that demands his immediate attention. The Ukraine is important but Harper is not a European leader so it need not require his sole attention and our domestic policies need not await. We have grain to ship, an election in Quebec to follow, and a Canada wide, Harper Government created, elections crises to name a few issues that must be attended to at home.
