Many years ago I worked as a dental assistant. Actually for five years total in two different stretches of time. The last was in the early 80s. We never ran into anyone undergoing chemo treatment who needed dental work. So many people died so quickly then because treatment was very limited. My mother in law died in 1983 from breast cancer and her treatment was nothing like it is today. It just hit me after I put out the request for Tooth Fairies that because we are able to do so much for people who get diagnosed now that this has become an issue. Cancer is a chronic illness now so there will be many issues that were not so apparent as before. But that is a good thing compared to what my mother in law faced.
