Many years ago when my Dads buisness was booming, a few extra workers were needed. So Dad picked up 3 guys who were waiting for work on Frio street. They worked for a week. The next morning I arrived st dads shop to see police dusting his van for prints. Every tool in truck had been stolen. I was angry as hell, I knew those guys had did it. I wanted revenge. Dad said leave them alone, they can keep them. I got a call the other day from a ICU nurse at University hospital. She said , she was calling on behalf of a man clinging to life. And repeating dads name over and over. The nurse got my number from an old card in the mans wallet. She asked me to please come to visit Him. I came to the bedside of this man. His name was JQ he was one of the suspected thrives years earlier, now, with a tube in his neck to breath, broken jaw,arm,both legs, hip, and 7 ribs. As he looked up from his bed he wept. The nurse said he had bit his tongue in half and she gave JQ a pad and pencil. His writing was almost illegible, but it said. Please ask your dad to forgive me for stealing his tools many years ago.. I said Dad forgave you that same day you stole them. Amazing Grace. I say
