Many years ago, when my little tech company was making one part of the facial biometric software required for multiple purposes, one of the applications that landed up on our tables pertained to immobilising motor vehicles, vessels and aircraft when they landed up at safe and accessible to public locations - like parking lots, public marinas and non-private airports/airstrips. This was designed, mainly, for debt recovery of movable assets and worked through linkages to GPS, mobile phones as well as other chips and onboard computers-all of which nowadays can speak to other devices. To give you an example, your car/boat/plane and any electronic device with a chip onboard can speak even if it is off or the computer is not on or if it is not online. Could be a mobile phone tower is in range or somebody going past with a mobile are somewhere nearby in range, and there is a seek out and running. With the easier and cheaper advent of GPS, this is now done with an even wider footprint, thanks to satellites. Works on a process of elimination, narrowing down, when I walked out in 2009, we had reached the capability of reverse scanning one face through 32 million facial records in less than the time it took you to look at an airport arrival/departure board, after already reducing the possible matches by way of other basic attributes. AND at the same time checking your brain to see if you had any strange thoughts in your head. But back to being able to control airplanes. Does the technology exist to over-ride pilot controls of aircraft while on ground or in the air? Yes. Can aircraft be destroyed mid-air? Why do so when there is a huge ocean where it can be redirected? undertheradarmedia.wordpress/2011/08/30/libya-fact-or-fiction/
