Marc Pingris, the spiritual leader of the San Mig Coffee Mixers, is getting tired of watching his team bungle its advantage in a playoff series after falling to the Alaska Aces on Wednesday. The defeat forced a do-or-die game between the two teams for a semifinals seat in the Governors’ Cup on Friday. “Nakakasawa na. Tinalo kami ng Alaska dati na nakauna kami pero natalo ng sunod-sunod,” said Pingris. Last conference, San Mig Coffee dropped three straight games in the semifinals to Alaska to lose the series despite winning the opening match. “Tapos sa Powerade, twice-to-beat kami tinalo rin kami,” Pingris added, referring to the team’s famous 2011-12 Philippine Cup quarterfinals defeat to the Tigers. The team then known as the B-MEG Llamados were the top seed that conference. “Kapag pinabayaan pa namin ito, kasalanan na namin yun hindi si Coach [Tim Cone].” Pingris said he intends to rally his teammates in practice on Thursday to try to figure out what needs to happen for the team. “Tomorrow sa practice kailangang kausapin ko sila. Talagang magsasalita ako kung ano yung mga mali or tama. Kukunin ko rin yung opinion ng iba,” said Pingris. “Hindi rin lang naman ako magsasalita dyan, pati sina James [Yap], si Peter [June Simon]. Pati na rin yung mga andun sa bench kailangan nilang sabihin kung ano nakikita nila.” This early, Pingris already had an idea about what went wrong for the Mixers in the loss. “Yung rebound.
