March 15, 2014 Dear Friends, After sifting through hundred’s of images in my personal collection, my goal is to represent a diverse and thriving living history and re-enacting community. Much of what is posted here is wet plate collodion photographs Ive taken during the years of 1987 thru 1995. As time permits, I hope to include more to this collection so please check back in the future, there’s more to come. Many thanks to John Coffer for sharing his talents and skills with me and to Will Dunniway and Mark Osterman for their support and contributions to the revival of the wetplate process today. I have made an attempt to identify all individuals and locations I can in the photographs. If you have any additional information regarding the “who, when and where”, please send me a private message. I appreciate any additional information or corrections if necessary. As you may know many of these photographs are one of a kind and all of my ambrotype and ferrotype work was sold out in the field. The camera plate was the image you took home with you. Occasionally I would ask the subject to sit for a second image, that second image eventually became my personal collection you see here. If you have any ambrotypes or ferrotypes I have made in the past and are favorites of yours, please scan them and send me a copy. I would love to include your images to future versions of this collection. The wetplate photography community is thriving and I encourage anyone interested in learning more about it to contact me or visit one of the many skilled photographers working on sutler row today. 19th century photographers all shared a vision and passion to photograph the world around them. That visual record became our history. We owe them thanks. Re-enactors all share a vision and passion for understanding that history. Without their support and dedication, this collection of photographs would not have been possible. I owe them thanks. Claude Levet Collodion Artist Troy, Virginia
