March 17, 2014 Monday of the Second Week of Lent usccb.org/bible/readings/031714.cfm Daniel 9:4-10 Psalm 79:8-9, 11, 13 Luke 6:36-38 Each person is guilty of sins, and as we stand before the Lord we must make a humble confession and repent of our sins. Many of our wrongs may be hidden from our eyes when we do our own will and interpret Scripture for ourselves. God has provided a Teacher in Christ and the Lord has given us a Church to set laws and show the narrow way to salvation by the power of the Holy Spirit. The holy covenant of God made with His Apostles must be obeyed if the people seek to flee from the iniquities of the past. Pride and rebellion caused from anger and condemnation tries to overtake the weak who seek to exalt themselves before truly becoming humble before the Throne of God. They have judged and separated themselves from the mercy of the Lord by freely denying the Church that Christ has provided for their good. Every man stands before God as a sinner, and should seek not or be dissuaded by the sins of men, but should obey the word and commandments of the Lord. Be assured that all men will be judged by God wherever they reside, however there is only one Sanctuary and by faith we come to its healing waters of grace. The holy covenant of God is directly ordained through the Hand of Christ and is received through the Church, and not by a personally inspired way. God is to be feared as He is to be loved, and the penitential character of our prayers should encourage us to change our ways, draw us closer to the one true Church, and find the mercy of the Lord in His Sanctuary. Man must conform to God’s will and not to their own feelings and interpretations. Men separate themselves from the Lord through the disobedience of pride and the ways of immorality, whether they live within the Church or without. However there is only one Church given to us by the Lord and it must be sought after if anyone seeks to truly find Christ. Self-abasement is necessary before the greatness of God, and our dependence upon God is shown by our trust and obedience to Christ and His Church. God has given all men a universal Church to prophesy in His Name, but the people have rebelled and sought their own way; they have placed themselves above their Creator and Savior. Seek the words, laws and commandments of God first, if you seek to receive the mercy of the Lord. The eternal word of God is received by the Church that holds the keys to the heavenly kingdom and sacrificially ministers His sanctifying grace through the Sacraments. The Church is for you and not against you, however some have rebelled and have not yet repented from their sins. Seek, knock, and enter Gods holy Temple, and find Him hidden in humility and faith. Christ has not come to condemn but to save, therefore let us all draw to the fountain of Gods grace. People have ignored God’s commandments and not sought the greatest of gifts upon the earth in faithful obedience. Be merciful and seek God’s real presence. The Word of God you have received from Christ’s universal Church.
