March 18, 2014 – Thought and Poem I saw a pretty yellow flower today, and it got me thinking…again. For many of us, we find ourselves so busy with work, families, chores, and going here and there, that often we don’t always take time to see the “little things,” around us, and we miss out on the many beauties there are to be seen that life has to offer us. I for one make it a point to look for these “beauties” when I am out and about in my yard or neighborhood. In fact, many times I won’t go back in the house unless I have found something I would have missed had I not looked for it. Have you ever done this? With spring just about ready to open her doors, we can have many opportunities to venture out in the fresh air, and with our cameras or iPhones in hand, we can challenge ourselves to leave our problems, stresses, or whatever issues that are pressing on our inner peace, and take a moment to look for that special something that will leave an imprint to store in our memory of something you saw that may have soothed you and made you forget everything else even if it was just for a minute. Perhaps there are times that we can’t venture outside, so we have to be creative and challenge ourselves to find these “little things” inside our home. A warm lick of your dog’s love on your skin, the cat purring near your ears, or even seeing a warm smile from a loved on. All these may leave you leave you feeling refreshed enough to know that everything will be okay and renew your senses and strengths to keep seeing positive things in your life. What about you? What do you “little things” do you look for inside or outside your home that give you breath of refreshment? Share your thoughts with us…Jeanne Claire Probst A Yellow Flower A yellow flower stood on a stem, Where droplets of rain stop by every now and then, Where it will take in the sunshine as the day moves along, Swaying in the soft wind as it sings its song. Oh, how delightful it can be, To see such beauty, And a to have a chance to take in something more, Of what life has to offer us when we take walks outdoors. Imagine if we were this yellow flower on a stem, How it doesn’t break even when the wind makes it bend, It knows its strengths and what it takes to endure, That it will live long enough to drop seeds to the earth’s floor, so that we will have yellow flowers forever more.
