March 20 Diversity Forum acknowledges minority/women-owned businesses plans for securing contracts and access to capital Greensboro, North Carolina — This quarter’s Diversity Forum Breakfast identifies good business practices for minority and women-owned businesses in procuring opportunities, gaining access to capital and assuring strategic management capacity. A candid, interactive program is scheduled for Thursday, March 20, from 7:45 a.m. to 9:45, Special Events Center, Greensboro Coliseum. Speakers include Greensboro Mayor Pro Tem Yvonne Johnson, Dr. Love Crossling, director, Greensboro Human Relations Commission and Andrea Harris, president, North Carolina Institute for Minority Economic Development. The nonprofit quarterly Diversity Forum is presented by The HR Group Inc., a Greensboro-based regional human resource management company. With passion and purpose, participants will acknowledge that many people talk about minority and women-owned firms, but few actually stand up as true advocates for them with major corporate leaders or public leaders. From their individual and collective perspectives, participants will present examples how business diversity is a successful path to building economically and socially healthy communities. Unlike other states, North Carolina has a comprehensive, statewide minority and women business development ecosystem. It is comprised of governmental agencies, policymakers, corporations, service providers, financial institutions and universities – all working in partnership toward a common goal of promoting true equity in the advancement of small business development. North Carolina is a model for other states. More than 130,000 firms are owned by minorities employing more than 132,000 people; and more than 225,000 women-owned firms with more than $32 billion in revenue. Seating is limited, with reservations required, 336-292-1911 or thehrgroupinc.net. Breakfast cost is $5 donation collected at the door, with net proceeds to nonprofit Boundless Impact.
