March 20 fact: In the early 1990s local hemophilia organizations, Committee of Ten Thousand (COTT), and others began to seek answers to why they were given misinformation and hold those accountable who failed to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS to people with #hemophilia. In 1993, Hemophilia Federation of America (HFA) forms as a sub-group of COTT and becomes independent in 1994. HFA bridges the gap between the advocacy efforts of COTT, and becomes a place of education and support for families. Today, HFA continues to assist, advocate, and serve as the voices of the bleeding disorders community. HFA is devoted to provide a better quality of life for people living with bleeding disorders. HFAs programs like Blood Brotherhood, Blood Sisterhood, Dads in Action, MomsConnect, FitFactor, and Helping Hands are designed to help the community stay informed and supported.
