Mark 2: 18-22 Todays Gospel implies old and new things do not mix well together. The examples Jesus gives is no one pours new wine into old wineskins. The wine will burst the skins. Many of us have problems of closed minds - rigidity. We are not open to new things. The Lord gives us wisdom, so we can best use of both the old and new. He doesnt want us to hold on rigidly to the past and to be resistant to the new works of His Holy Spirit. Jesus wants our minds and hearts to be like new wineskins - open and ready to receive the new wine of the Holy Spirit. The old ways are difficult to change, yet to follow Christ we are called to move away from our sinful ways and grow closer to Him. We still carry the burdens of our brokenness, yet we can know and feel Jesus unconditional love. Lord Jesus, please help me to be open to the promptings of the Holy Spirit. Amen !! Alleluia !!
