Mark Davey was just eleven years old when he was struck down by non-Hodgkin lymphoma … a form of cancer. Whilst undergoing treatment, Mark was supported by Starlight Children’s Foundation and after a long, difficult and often painful treatment he finally beat his cancer. Nineteen years later, to celebrate getting to his 30th birthday, Mark pledged to raise £30,000 for Starlight to help grant wishes-of-a-lifetime for other seriously and terminally ill children so they could experience the positive benefits of the fun, laughter and excitement created by a Starlight Wish and by Starlight Hospital Entertainment. His fundraising started with a boxing match, which raised £2,500. He followed this by running the London Marathon, which raised £5,000. Never a moment passed without Mark striving towards his total of £30,000. Tragically, Mark was killed in a car accident last Saturday, 13 September.
