Mark & Sandy: died in 1991. Mark committed suicide the day after his dog had been PST. He left a note saying “ Goodbye, me and sandy will be together now and will never be parted again” Rizla: PTS Oct 1991 – Was photographed in the newspaper with a needle in her leg as she died. Died in police ‘care’ Arney: Seized 1992 found guilty at magistrates court PTS 1993 – much loved family pet whose family still grieve for. Micky: Seized Jan 1992 PTS 2 yrs old Hoskins: A KC Registered Staffordshire bull terrier seized 1992 under sec 1 of dangerous dogs act PTS 1993. Owner refused his body back. Tyler: killed as type 1993 Having never hurt anyone Jessie: Crippled and brain damaged 8 yrs old PST 1995 on evidence of RSPCA Otis: killed as type 8 Feb 1996 having never hurt anyone Buster: Seized Jan 1993 Court agreed appeal, but he had already been taken from kennel and PST Bullseye: shot by police after he had escaped through an open door of his home. Beat with truncheons..His owner then lay across his body to protect him. He was shot after his owner was pulled off him. Much loved & died 1996. When his body was returned his brain had been removed. Tyson: aged 4 yrs old died in kennels of a broken heart in 1995. Court later found him not guilty. Karn: a registered dog, insurance lapsed, shot dead by RSPCA. Owner couldn’t show proof that insurance had been posted. But cheque arrived 3 days after Karn had been killed. Penny: 1 of 16 pet dogs rounded up during police raids in Scotland . described as extremely friendly. Pts 1996 Stella: Arrived in rescue killed as type killed 13th Dec 1995 Lola: Arrived at animal shelter after being stabbed 7 times – owner prosecuted. Unable to re-home as she was deemed type. Killed Feb 2008. Tia and her 2 puppies: Took into sanctuary, treated and placed for adoption. 2 pups went into foster home. Tia was seen by a vet who had been on a training course and he thought she may be pit type. Tia was destroyed and her 2 pups taken out of foster and killed – staff devastated. Missy: Exempted and returned home, but unable to settle after being seized and placed in kennels was allowed to sleep peacefully 2008. 6 stray dogs: PST by Hackney Council after being deemed pit type. 2008. Keizer: Held in kennels for 9 months as pit type – owner proved he was not type and he was allowed home. On return he was taken ill and allowed to go to sleep peacefully in his owners arms. Red: Stray 1 years old, highly socialised, well-mannered and friendly. Loved by all kennel staff, one saying “when we took him into vet to be pts, his tail was still wagging, as he licked the tears off my face. Ice: was found as a stray. He was friendly and never showed any aggression. Killed 2009. Samson: A Staffy cross. Taken to rescue and was killed April 2009 because police thought he looked like a pit bull. 19 seized puppies: under 8 weeks old killed by police. Breed never determined. Magic: Killed as ‘Type’ in rescue 2008 Annie & Maisy: Lived and played together all of their lives. They were seized and died together 1pm 20th April 2008. Oscar: Killed in error by Merseyside Police. October 2007. Cassie: Died in her owners arms 9th February, 2007. An entire litter of puppies: Accused of being dangerous dogs, they were all killed 17th April, 2008. They were 5 weeks old. Macy: Died in Police “care” 2007. Barney: Exempted and returned home, but had suffered too much being in kennels and being away from his loving owners. They decided to let him go to sleep peacefully. He died in his owners arms. Duke: Previously happy at home. Unable to cope in kennels. Allowed to sleep peacefully 2007. Jess: Died of parvo virus in Police “care” 2007. Zeus: Died unknown cause in Police “ care” 2007. Cheeko: Died in Police kennels 2007. Minnie: Killed as ‘type’ 2009. She was 4 months old. Jackson: Seized aged 2 days old. Spent all his puppyhood in kennels. Went to sleep in foster carers arms 2010. Sky, BlueBlue and their 8 puppies: Seized & killed 24th December, 2010. Fudge: Seized and killed 22nd March, 2011. Beeju: Taken from owners friends back garden. Killed 2011. Owner found out after Beeju had been killed. JoJo: Staffy cross. Picked up as a stray. Killed as ‘Pit Type’ 2011. Lennox: Seized in Northern Ireland. After a 2 year court battle, Lennox was killed 11th July 2012. Diamond: Staffordshire Bull Terrier. Seized from home after Police refused to believe she was a Staffy. Killed as ‘type’ 2010. Shadow, Boris, Jackson, Jake, Jasper, Sam, Larry, Maisey, Tommy, Joseph: All strays who once had a home. Taken from kennel and died alone as ‘type’ Boogie: A 4 year old family pet who was loved very much and well cared for. Seized and killed 2012. Treever: 3 year old Staffy cross. Loved very much by his owner. She said “he was my baby boy and I loved him very much. I was told he was being taken to be assessed, that was at 9pm. At midnight police returned to tell me my baby had been destroyed. Our family will never be the same again” Lunar: Tazered and caught with 2 wrongly positioned catch-poles that resulted in her dying from asphyxiation. 2012. Maddie & Tess: January 2012. Much loved family pets. Gia: Seized from her loving owners. Told they could fight for her in court. When they called council to see how she was coping in kennels, they were told that she had already been killed. August 2012. The thousands of unknown dogs dying in kennels, pounds, shelters and vets around the Country as a direct result of Breed Specific Legislation. We will never know their names. R.I.P . . Run free
