Marriage subsidy opposed by NRI’s A large number of NRI’s raised objection about the decision of Govt. of Telangana for giving financial assistance for performing marriage of Muslim destitute girls. They said that it is shameful on the party of the Muslims to beg for the subsidy for performing marriages. Islam has given the responsibility of maintaining the family to men but women forced their husbands to incur unnecessary expenditure. Many men know that for purchasing a bridegroom, the bride has to beg for the financial assistance from the govt. this is shameful for the self respect of man. It is the duty of the Muslim scholars to tell the Govt. that this subsidy is nothing but a charity. This grant should be given to men not women. Mr. Mohammed Abbas Khan, President of Al-Noor Education Society suggested that instead of giving subsidy for marriages, Govt. should stop the private school managements from taking donations for admissions. If the evil of donations is eradicated, many Muslim boys will get admissions in good schools. Mr. Afsar Faheem, Chairman of Khak-e- Tayyeba Trust who is now in Sudan, said that as a result of Government’s subsidy, it will become easier for begging for marriages. It will result in promoting the evil of taking dowry. The greedy boys know that the bride will get Rs. 51000. Mr. Saleem Farooqui, General Secretary of Urdu Academy, Jiddah told that it is shameful that Muslims have abandoned performing their marriages according to the teachings of Prophet Mohammed (PBUH). Dr. Aleem Khan Falaki, President of Socio Reform Society also condemn taking subsidy from the Govt. for marriages.
