Marshall Co. Sheriff’s Office Press Release For immediate release Incident: Single vehicle collision kills one, sends 3 to hospital. Location: Arant Road approximately 2/10 of a mile south of KY 348 (Symsonia Highway) Date and time of incident: Friday, July 25th, 2014 at approximately 1:30 a.m. Persons involved: 1. Driver: Taylor A. Leigh, 15, of Reidland 2. Passenger: Cameron L. McElmurry, 17, of Benton 3. Passenger: Dustin A. Poat, 17, of Benton 4. Passenger: Derek T Lockett, 16, of Calvert City Incident description: Leigh was driving a 2010 Kia Soul north on Arant Road, approximately 2/10 of mile south of Symsonia Highway. Leigh lost control of the vehicle after cresting a hill at a high rate of speed. Leigh’s vehicle exited the left shoulder of the roadway and struck a tree. Leigh, McElmurry and Lockett were ejected from the vehicle during the crash. Leigh was pronounced dead at the scene by the Marshall County Coroner’s Office. McElmurry, Poat and Lockett were all taken to Marshall Co. Hospital for treatment of injuries sustained during the collision. The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Sgt. Mark Balentine and Deputy Nathan Maxlow of the Marshall Co. Sheriff’s Office. Marshall County EMS and West Marshall Fire Department assisted at the scene.
