Marta Malinka 6 minutes ago Allowed on Timeline For someone who may not know, this is Mila. She was found in the fields in Paraklisha, not far from Limassol. When I got a message from the lady who found her, from the description I understood that the dog is in bad condition, but I could not even imagine how bad it was unless I saw her myself few days later, when I went to Limassol to visit her. The snap test showed negate to leishmania, but we send blood samples to the laboratory and the results came out positive. We kept fighting for her life, till once she got really bad for few days and we were very close to put her to sleep to stop the suffering. Also at the beginning she did not respond well to the treatment and it looked like that she will not make it no matter what. That week-end we took her off medication and just were spoiling her badly with all tasty food and attention believing that those are her last days. But over the week-end we noticed she improved, her appetite got back, she stopped throwing up and became more lively. So the decision was to try it again. We brought her to another vet, as simply we had no opportunity to drive to Limassol each time and it was stressful to her as well. Hopes were not high, but there was still a chance. She spend around 10 days in the vet clinic under the drip and had blood transfusion that literary brought her back to life. I think it was a surprise to everyone how well she responded to the treatment. She is taking her Milteforan and have to take it for 37 days more. She has a home in Germany, but can not travel until she puts on weight and finish her treatment. I have to leave the island at the end of March, appr 21st and we need to find Mila another foster home. She is going to go to new foster home in much better condition than she was when she came to me. Please consider fostering little Mila. she will not make it in the kennels and we have no where to put her after I leave. Preferably foster home has to be in Nicosia, as it is close to the vet clinic or fosterer should have opportunity to drive her in case of emergency and for further tests. She can not be walked at the moment, so some small back yard would be nice to have, so she could get out for little wee walks. She has to be under supervision, so we need someone who spending most of the time at home. We need a very committed person, as if she goes to the foster home, she has to stay there till her flight under any circumstances. It would be too stressful to move her around. I will give all needed instructions. We have just a little bit of time to find her foster home.
