Martes 10 de septiembre -- Tuesday, September 10 Todas las cosas que fueron escritas en tiempo pasado fueron escritas para nuestra instrucción (Rom. 15:4). Entre las “cosas que fueron escritas” figuran muchos ejemplos positivos de hombres y mujeres de extraordinaria fe (Heb. 11:32-34). Ciertamente, podemos y debemos beneficiarnos de los buenos ejemplos de las Escrituras. Lo haremos si aprendemos las lecciones que nos brindan estos personajes bíblicos y tratamos de ponerlas en práctica. Sin embargo, la Biblia contiene también ejemplos que nos sirven de advertencia. Hallamos algunos en las vidas de hombres y mujeres a los que Dios aceptó y utilizó como siervos suyos en un determinado momento. Al leer las Escrituras, podemos notar cuándo y cómo se descarriaron y llegaron a ejemplificar errores que debemos evitar. A veces observaremos que fueron desarrollando malas actitudes y tendencias, lo que al final los llevó a sufrir consecuencias lamentables. ¿Cómo extraemos lecciones de estos relatos? Preguntándonos: “¿Qué llevó a esa situación? ¿Podría pasarme a mí algo parecido? ¿Qué puedo hacer para aprender de este error y evitar cometerlo?”. w11 15/12 1:19, 20 Romanos 15:4 Porque todas las cosas que fueron escritas en tiempo pasado fueron escritas para nuestra instrucción, para que mediante nuestro aguante y mediante el consuelo de las Escrituras tengamos esperanza. Hebreos 11:32-34 ¿Y qué más diré? Porque me faltará tiempo si sigo contando de Gedeón, de Barac, de Sansón, de Jefté, de David, así como también de Samuel y de los [demás] profetas, que por fe derrotaron reinos en conflicto, efectuaron justicia, obtuvieron promesas, taparon bocas de leones, detuvieron la fuerza del fuego, escaparon del filo de la espada, de un estado débil fueron hechos poderosos, se hicieron valientes en guerra, pusieron en fuga a los ejércitos de extranjeros. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Tuesday, September 10 All the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction.—Rom. 15:4. Those written things include many good examples, men and women of outstanding faith. (Heb. 11:32-34) We can and should benefit from the good examples found in the Scriptures, following or imitating what is presented in those fine Biblical accounts. Certain Bible accounts, however, include warning examples. We can find some of those in the lives of men and women whom Jehovah at one point accepted and used as his servants. As we read the Bible, we can note where and how some of God’s people went astray and thus became warning examples. We can discern that some gradually developed wrong attitudes or tendencies, which eventually produced sad consequences. How can we draw lessons from such accounts? We may want to ask ourselves such questions as: ‘How did that develop? Might such a trend develop in my case? What can I do to avoid that and instead to benefit from this warning example?’ w11 12/15 1:19, 20 Romans 15:4 For all the things that were written aforetime were written for our instruction, that through our endurance and through the comfort from the Scriptures we might have hope. Hebrews 11:32-34 And what more shall I say? For the time will fail me if I go on to relate about Gid´e·on, Ba´rak, Samson, Jeph´thah, David as well as Samuel and the [other] prophets, 33 who through faith defeated kingdoms in conflict, effected righteousness, obtained promises, stopped the mouths of lions, 34 stayed the force of fire, escaped the edge of the sword, from a weak state were made powerful, became valiant in war, routed the armies of foreigners.
