Martin vs. Zimmerman Gun Laws in case: Ludicrous (basically it states that if you can entice someone to engage in a fight with you, you’re legally able to shoot them, and yes everyone should be upset about this GIANT loophole for legalized murder) Neighborhood Watch Laws: That you can walk around in “plain” clothes following people is a giant loophole, and Zimmerman never bothered to identify himself. Zimmerman: Overzealous – Most Definitely Profiling by clothes – Very likely, if Martin had just come back from his Prom dressed nicely, Zimmerman wouldn’t have been as “concerned” to follow him. Martin: The question of whether Martin was a saint is irrelevant. Even the question of whether he threw the first punch “should be” irrelevant. He practiced fighting, he knew how to fight, but from his perspective, someone who has not identified himself in ANY way is following him and looks as if he’s attempting to mug him. My take: This case is not about race, it’s about the horrendous gun law loopholes that allow such a nightmare to happen. People with an overwhelming desire to be “recognized” can walk around a neighborhood with a gun and follow people, all while in normal, non-identifying clothes. If Zimmerman had by law been forced to just simply identify himself the altercation might not have happened at all, or if he had simply been wearing a normal security suit that anyone would be able to recognize. I would like to see the laws changed where if you kill someone you go to jail, period, with the only exception being house break-ins. Murder shouldn’t have “legal” loopholes, and as a society we shouldn’t condone these loopholes either. Why do we persist on acting so dumb when it comes to guns, every person on the planet knows when a gun comes out in a fight someone is going to die, why do we feign ignorance regarding this? A gun is NOT an equalizer in a fight, it’s a permanent life taking killing tool, how many more ways does this have to be stated and at the cost of how many more lives? - R I P – Trayvon Martin
